Dull hair, dandruff and excessive hair fall are few of the problems which could besiege you with summers approaching. The pores on the surface of the skin spread to release sweat making the roots of our hair weak and more prone to falling off because of constant presence of moisture on the scalp. The moisture causes itching and irritation on the scalp. The continuous itching further worsens the condition and hair starts falling.
Hair Loss Factors
Heredity and improper diet are two of the most commonly seen factors which determine the hair growth of a person. Other reasons which lead to hair loss are: due to intake food with high sugar content, affect of harmful chemicals present in shampoos conditioners, stress, tension etc. When the average number of hair you lose per day starts increasing, more than 60 hairs per day, then you need to consult a doctor at the earliest. Loss of hair is mainly associated with old age, but today even youth seems to suffer from it. Sometimes when it strike so early in age, people tend to go into depression.
The Types and Phases
The most common type is androgenic alopecia also known as female pattern baldness (when it occurs in women). It is generally acquired through heredity and genetics. The other types usually last temporarily but can be considered as symptoms of major illness like skin infection, stress, over dose of drugs, etc. Each strand of the scalp goes through a growing phase termed 'anagen', which lasts for almost 1000 days, then enters a transitional phase called as a 'catagen' which lasts for 10 days. It is in this stage that the hair stops growing and then comes the final phase, known as the 'telogen', which goes on for another 100 days. After this, the hair finally falls out of the follicle and is replaced by a new strand of hair, with which a new cycle starts again. Most of the people almost claim and expect that they should not loose even a single strand of hair and that is totally impossible! As per the hair cycle, hair will grow and periodically fall out. Those who really suffer from this ailment face their worst phase in the summers when hair start falling more and more than in any other season. The whole and soul reason behind it being the sweaty and damp hair because of the excessive heat which weakens the roots of the hairs. If the case is severe, definitely you have to visit a doctor and get the proper medications, but it is also important to do the things in your hand which can if not stop at least reduce the rate of hair fall. Some of the main ways being; by keeping your scalp as clean as possible because if you have clogged pores, there are more chances that you will experience breakouts, staying out in the sun for too long can make your hair dry which would eventually lead to balding.
I would suggest that, try to maintain a balanced diet and exercise regularly and more importantly try to stay relaxed. During summers take care of your hair twice as much as you would do normally and if still your hair
problem persists, make it a point to visit a doctor at the earliest and opt for a suitable treatment.
