Brand Manager, Lancôme
Q- Multi-purpose products are widely becoming popular. As far as colour cosmtics are concerned, it makes sense but what about skin care products?
A- At Lancôme, we have separate products depending on needs of our skin. Yes, there are brands that manufacture multi-purpose skin care products too apart from colour cosmetics but I don't think one product can solve all your skin problems. Like a cleanser opens pores while cleansing your face. Toner on the other hand, closes pores. So there can't be one product that works as both. Now-a-days you get to see lot of products with SPF but the level differs. As compared to sunscreen, these products have lower SPF. These might work for those who are on darker side but for women like me who have fair complexion, SPF 50 is a must.
Q- What are five beauty must-haves for working women?
A- A moisturizer as your skin tends to get dry even if you are sitting in an air conditioned room, a compressed powder to give a matte finish, gloss or a lip balm to keep your lips hydrated unlike a lipstick that dries out your lips, a blush for a quick pinkish glow and a mascara to highlight your eyes.
Q- What are the other make-up options for working women apart from nude make-up?
A- Many people think make-up is meant for parties. You should do it for yourself and not just for an occasion. I would suggest brighter colours for lips as Indian skin tone goes well with such colours like red, pink, coral. With bright lips they can go for light eye make-up to avoid looking over-done. During daytime, its more about lips than eyes. For th latter, you can just apply a mascara.
Q- How different should be skin care routine at night as compared to daytime?
A- After cleansing, toning, you can apply serum then night cream with rich texture and undereye cream that will take care of dark circles etc. Hands and feet are also important. Moisturize them as well. Nails also tend to get dry so use an oil for that.
