Be it long or short, reducing the roundness of face is easy. You don't need a magic wand for that. All you have to do is know the do's and don'ts of hair tricks for getting that instant slim look!

Chuck Same Length

We know that chopping off new hair growth and making length even keeps split-ends away and promotes healthy hair. Going all even from front to back to side would definitely not help you in hiding that round face. "Soft layers give illusion of more length to face. The hair should fall below chin length," suggests Kanta Motwani, owner of Kromakay salon.  Since its the front portion you want to mask, you should have layers at the front. "In case of long hair start at the jaw or slightly below so it cuts the roundness exactly at the jaw area. It goes by several names like Forward Graduation, front layering, Razor cut,etc," says Ryan D'Rozario, for Salon M.U.A.H. (make up & hair).

Shades that Suit

Hair colours can change you from black-haired woman to red or blonde or purple haired woman. Apart from complexion and eye colour, face cut should also be considered while selecting colour for your locks. "Avoid doing chunky highlights. Have some blondes mixed in with some browns for a sun-kissed look," says Sugandh Dariya, National Educator -India, Paul Mitchell. Going slightly light can also work in your favour. "Absolute black looks quite hard. Two to three shades lighter than natural colour will have better effect," says Motwani. Highlights on layered hair are stunning with no doubt.

Part them

Combing your hair is more than just keeping your hair neat. Your face can appear longer or shorter or fuller on the basis of the way you part your tresses. "Center parting is a big no!! Side partition will make your face look squarish, hence de-emphasizes your face's circular symmetry," says Dariya. This is why people tell you to comb your hair in front of mirror. You get to see whether the hair is in place and also whether the hairstyle is complimenting your face or not.

Cut Short

Shoulder length or below that are the initial options given to all women with round face cut. Sometimes work or hair loss due to several factors or the heat or to break the monotony, women like to cut their hair short. No worries as short hair cut on women with round face can pull it off too provided you get the apt cut. "For the bolder ones or those who sport shorter hair, a nice A-Line Bob works well, again because the hair falls straight over the cheeks. Hence, cutting the roundness," says D'Rozario.

Try Tie

Leaving your hair open all the time is not feasible but pulling back each and every strand of hair is not the solution either. "You should always have a few strands around the face to frame your face," says Dariya. D'Rozario agrees with her and suggests keeping a little hair loose at the nape to take away the attention off the roundness. "Don't tie your hair slick back into bun. Long bangs falling right on the cheeks work well as the shadows of the hair cuts down the roundness Length of the bangs have to be perfect," adds he.
