Health benefits of both
Should I go with black or green? No, it's not the colour dilemma while selecting your apparel. It's the health benefits you can reap from tea!
There is an ingredient called catechins which is more in the green tea than in the black tea. “Green tea has powerful antioxidants which fight against free radicals. It is very beneficial for prostate cancer. It also lowers the risk of other cancers and prevents tooth decay. Having it with lemon, boost its antioxidants properties,” says Naini Setalvad, a Mumbai based nutritionist and health consultant.
Green tea has epigallocatechin in them which is again a powerful antioxidant. “Black tea helps relax and expand the arteries which increase blood flow to the heart. According to research, black is more beneficial for heart attacks and strokes while green is more beneficial for certain types of cancer especially breast and prostate cancer,” says Setalvad.
Black tea is very beneficial for the hair also. You just have to add 3-5 tea bags to one bowl of boiled water. Let this mixture rest for 4-5 hours. Apply it all over your clean hair and leave it on your hair for 30 minutes. This will condition your hair and will make them silky soft. Green tea on the other hand is very beneficial for the skin. Take three tablespoons of mayonnaise and one teaspoon of green tea leaves. Mix them well and apply it all over your face, leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash off your face. This will give you a clean and smooth skin. “Green tea is very soothing moisturizer and can be applied to the skin. It has anti aging properties. In the American chemical society 2003 it has been published that green tea can prevent skin cancer,” sums up Setalvad.
